Geodesic Dome Project

I helped one of my student workers make a Geodesic Dome out of Electrical Conduit at the end of the spring semester. It was a quick project and a fast turnaround. Great to see so many students and other staff members work on this project.

We cut the conduit by hand with a manual tube cutter then used an arbor press to flatten the ends. From there the flat ends were drilled so that you could fit a hex screw through and lock the pieces into place with a hex nut.

It’s nice, and it doesn’t always happen, that you can go from a ‘in theory this should work’ to a finished working thing.
