Gallery Shelf Job

I had a lot of fun making this 45 degree angular shelf for the Canton Fitzgerald Gallery at Haverford. I used the Shopbot CNC Router so it was a quick job and pretty painless. A little bit of worry installing but it went into the gallery without much trouble. Above is the sketch I created for the shelf. I cut one slab 5 feet by 1 and then created two isosceles right triangles for the supports. On the inside of each triangle I created 2 by 2 inch inlays where the angle brackets were going to go. I did this so I didn’t have to measure later or worry about the brackets looking slightly uneven. In an increasingly characteristic moment I took no photographs of the build in progress. So, boom! below it the finished piece.
